Being able to use our design talents to support others is an amazing gift and responsibility. With the perks of living in a digital age we now have the option to share our work and messages beyond gallery walls and city limits into a virtual arena.
During the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, any athlete, fan, or media personnel advocating support for homosexuality is subject to punishment under the new Russian laws; there is to be NO ‘propaganda’ at the actual event. Kyle Franklin, a Fine Arts Senior at Columbus College of Art & Design, has set up an online gallery of submissions (YES you can participate until February 7th, 2014) of posters supporting the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Athletes.
"These laws in Russia may not change, and we might not be able to change them. Moving forward, we can do something positive and remind these athletes over and over again: They are supported. They are loved. They are golden."
