In an age of digital books and readers, most people might be surprised to find out that classical bookbinding is still alive and kicking. My best friend Gabby Cooksey, is an example of a marvelous young bookbinder making a name for herself in the field. Having attended the American Academy of Bookbinding in Telluride, CO for a year and graduating from North Bennet Street School for Bookbinding in Boston, MA this May, Gabby has produced some amazing work. Therefore, I was more then excited to help her with some branding and a website to show her stuff.
Based on her love of art nouveau and hands on craftsmanship, I wanted her logo to reflect the curvy yet compartmental style of typography from the 1920's. For her website I utilized detail shots of her bindings and warm browns to digitally express the feel of a bindery. Check out her work here and get in touch for individual commissions.
